Being diagnosed matters
Allergy Awareness Week 2025An allergy diagnosis isn’t just a label, it’s the key to managing symptoms, preventing complications, and improving quality of life. The earlier you recognise the signs and seek diagnosis, the better you can manage symptoms and take control of the condition.
A diagnosis can also open the door to specialist allergy clinics, up to date patient advice, treatments which require prescriptions, or immunotherapy treatments which can desensitise you to some common allergens e.g. pollen, house dust mite and certain foods and much more. Even with a food allergy, a diagnosis means you can access advice on how to ensure you are getting a well balanced diet that isn’t unnecessarily restrictive. It is also the only way you can access prescribed adrenaline auto-injectors, should your food allergy have a risk of anaphylaxis.
Promptly treating allergies in infancy can also increase the possibilities of allergies being outgrown, and in some instances, avoid allergies getting any worse.
If you suspect an allergy, speak to a healthcare professional.
Watch this space: During Allergy Awareness Week we will be launching everything you need to help you the most out of a clinical appointment for allergies.
