Sir David Evennett is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Bexleyheath and Crayford where he was elected in May 2005. He previously was the MP for Erith and Crayford between 1983 and 1997.
Sir David has served in several positions throughout his Parliamentary career. Between 2012 and 2018, he was a member of the Government serving as Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury. He has also been a Minister of Sport, Tourism and Heritage, and in July 2019, was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party for Business Engagement.
Sir David plays an active role in the Bexleyheath and Crayford community. He is a Patron of Townley Grammar School, a communicant member of St Paulinus Church in Crayford, and is an Honorary Vice President of the Bexleyheath and District Club for the Disabled.
He currently lives in Barnehurst with his wife Marilyn, and in his spare time enjoys the cinema, 1960s pop music, reading novels, travelling, and visiting National Trust properties.
