Reckitt Recalls Infant Formula

A Hypoallergenic Formula Powder, commonly used for babies with a Cow’s Milk Protein allergy has been recalled by its manufacturer for precautionary reasons. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) last week announced that infant formula manufacturer Reckitt is recalling Nutramigen LGG stage 1 and stage 2 Hypoallergenic Formula powders because of the possible presence of Cronobacter sakazakii.

The formula powders are usually given for special medical purposes, such as for babies with cow’s milk protein allergy from birth. Although they are not medicines, they are usually provided on prescription as they should be used under medical supervision.
