The National Allergy Strategy Launch

Monday 20th April 2026 marks the launch of the UK's first National Allergy Strategy.

Back to 'The National Allergy Strategy'

The National Allergy Strategy is pioneering in its scope as it has been developed in response to a growing and hitherto unresolved crisis and has for the first time united the whole allergy community with one voice. It sets out a broad vision, with the aim of:

  • Reducing preventable harm, including fewer avoidable deaths and severe allergic reactions, through safer environments and earlier, more consistent intervention.
  • Improving health outcomes and quality of life for people living with allergic disease, with greater safety, inclusion and confidence in everyday life.
  • Reducing health and social inequalities, ensuring protection, access to care and quality of support do not depend on geography, background or individual advocacy.
  • Ensuring equitable access to high‑quality, lifelong allergy care across all four nations, supported by consistent standards, safer transitions between services, and timely access to effective treatments.
  • Developing a sustainable, skilled workforce and system capability, with allergy embedded in service planning, professional education and community provision to meet growing need.
  • Ensuring better value for money for the NHS and wider public services, achieved through prevention, early intervention, improved data and surveillance, and more efficient use of resources.

The recommendations of the National Allergy Strategy are intended for wide dissemination and implementation by a range of public sector bodies including healthcare providers, government departments, as well as by schools, catering, retail and transport bodies. The successful roll-out of the strategy will entail a significant effort by everyone with responsibility in the aforementioned areas, as well as a collaborative approach between policymakers across the 4 nations of the UK and the allergy community, to make the change needed become a reality.

The real work of implementation starts now.

Allergy UK’s Parliamentary Reception

To mark the launch of the National Allergy Strategy, Allergy UK hosted a parliamentary reception at the House of Commons on Monday 20th April, bringing together key voices driving change in allergy care. The event was opened by Jodie Gosling MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Allergy, setting the tone for a powerful schedule of speakers. Attendees then heard from Simone Miles (CEO, Allergy UK), Professor Adam Fox OBE (Chair of the NASG), and Ella Stoneham, who delivered a moving account of her lived experience. The reception concluded with remarks from Sharon Hodgson MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Public Health and Prevention, reinforcing the government’s commitment to tackling allergy care at a national level.
