Precautionary Allergen Labelling (PAL) of Novel Foods Survey
Your opinion counts!
Your views, attitudes and needs as allergic consumers with regard to the labelling of so-called ‘novel foods’, i.e. new types of food such as insects or mung bean protein, are going to be evaluated as part of the EU-funded Giant Leaps research project.
In collaboration with the University of Surrey the German Allergy and Asthma Association (DAAB) is conducting an international online survey to evaluate the implementation of the current regulation in terms of their comprehensibility and usefulness from consumers´ perspective. In addition, we would like to analyse which impact the currently existing ‘allergen warnings’ /PAL on novel foods have on your food choice.
We would also like to hear from you about your preference, how potential new novel foods, from new manufacturing processes, should be labelled in terms of allergenicity in the future.
Who can participate?
- Everyone, who is 18 years and older
- Everyone, who is diagnosed with an allergy by a doctor
The survey is anonymous and your input cannot be linked to you in any way. It will take around 20 minutes. Only questionnaires, that have been filled completely can enter the evaluation.
The summarized results will be used to inform the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), who makes recommendations for the implementation of food labelling as well as the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
Your voice therefore contributes directly to ensuring that the needs and opinions of consumers with allergies are heard and implemented in your favour.
