All-Party Parliamentary Group for Allergy looks to 2026
In early December, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Allergy - an alliance of professional organisations including Allergy UK – convened for a biannual meeting to review progress and look ahead to 2026.
2025 saw the re-establishment of the APPG for Allergy and a motivated group of parliamentarians were brought together, committed to raising their voices on behalf of the allergic community.
The meeting was a key moment to discuss recent information gathered about Integrated Care Boards and issues with a lack of centralised data.
With findings suggesting that the true scale of allergic disease was going unreported, the group reaffirmed its commitment to keep allergy as a topic of discussion in and out of Parliament, building momentum to generate awareness and create genuine change.
Professor Adam Fox OBE, chair of the National Allergy Strategy Group, shared an update with the group regarding the Strategy, including a timeline and a look ahead to the long-awaited strategy launch which will happen in April’s Allergy Awareness Week at an Allergy UK Parliamentary Reception. This represents a significant step forward for the allergic community, unified behind a single alliance of professional organisations and the patient charities, with all recommendations brought together in one cohesive strategy.
Discussing Allergy Awareness Week more broadly, the group discussed how best to ensure momentum could be built, contributions made and new ideas for engagement explored to ensure a strong start to 2026.
The impending launch of the first National Allergy Strategy, comprehensive and inclusive of all areas of allergy, represents a unique and priceless opportunity to advocate for change, to ensure that all living with allergic disease receive the highest standard of care, regardless of where they live, with equitable access to services across the UK.
With extensive engagement in and out of Parliament, the group is looking to a meaningful 2026, with calls for change growing with every voice that takes up our cause in the halls of power.
