Celebrating 35 Years of Allergy UK

This year marks a very special milestone as Allergy UK celebrates its 35th anniversary. It is an opportunity to reflect on three and a half decades of progress and also a chance to thank the supporters, volunteers, healthcare professionals, partners and members of the allergy community who have helped shape our journey. 

Founded in 1991 by leading allergists in response to the growing impact of allergic disease across the UK Allergy UK is now the nation’s leading allergy charity. We’re driven by a commitment to improving understanding, raising awareness and supporting people affected by allergy. 

Over the past 35 years, we have reached many important milestones, from establishing the internationally recognised Seal of Approval in 1995 and launching the first Allergy Awareness Week in 1998, to developing education programmes for healthcare professionals and schools, we consistently champion better standards of care and support.  

Innovation has been at the heart of our work. Over the years, our teams have embraced digital services, expanded into online resources developed a website and webinars, podcasts and interactive tools. Throughout every stage of development, one thing has remained constant – our dedication to the people Allergy UK serves. The Helpline provides trusted guidance and reassurance to thousands of people and families each year, while our campaigns, advocacy work and partnerships help push allergy higher up the public and political agenda. 

A recent success includes our contributions to the development of the National Allergy Strategy and our advocacy for a single patient record now recognised as an important component of NHS modernisation plans. 

As Allergy UK celebrates 35 years, there is much to be proud of. Our story is one of compassion, determination and progress. Thank you to everyone who has supported Allergy UK along the way. Together, we have achieved so much and, together, we can continue working towards a better future for everyone living with allergy.
