FSA warns people with allergies over some imported Dubai-style chocolate products

The FSA has warned that some imported Dubai-style chocolate products may pose a serious risk to people with food allergies. These products may not have proper ingredient labelling in English, and allergens such as milk, nuts, sesame, and soya may not be clearly declared. In some cases, the allergens may not be declared at all.

The products appear to be sold online and via some independent retailers in the UK, and many do not comply with food labelling laws. This poses a significant risk for people with food allergies, as they may unknowingly consume something harmful.

What you can do:

  • Avoid buying or consuming chocolate products that don’t have clear allergen information in English.
  • Be especially cautious when shopping online or from unfamiliar retailers.
  • Report any products with incorrect or unclear labelling to your local authority or via the FSA.

Anyone who has concerns about products they have purchased should not eat them, especially if they have food allergies or intolerances.

We know how vital it is to stay informed about risks like this. If you have any questions or concerns, or for more information on food allergies and how to stay safe, visit food.gov.uk.
