DEFRA and FSA food labelling consultation workshops

As you may know, Defra and the FSA launched a public consultation on Friday 25th January into the policy surrounding allergen information on food prepacked for direct sale (PPDS). 

Defra and the FSA are hosting three workshops to invite people living with allergies to share their views on the policy options.  There will be 20 spaces at each workshop, and the details are as follows:

 If you wish to be part of the discussion and share your views relating to the allergen information policy, please email allergenlabellingreview@defra.gsi.gov.uk stating which workshop you’d like to attend, details of each can be found in the above letters.

We encourage all those living with allergies to engage with this consultation to ensure their views on this important issue are heard’ and those unable to attend the workshops can provide their response via the online survey by clicking here

New dates added

The Food Standards Agency in Wales will be holding a series of workshop to discuss the public consultation on allergen information provision for food products that are prepacked for direct sale (PPDS). 

These events will be held at three venues:

The interactive workshops will be open to consumers with food allergies, businesses (who sell food PPDS) and local authorities based in Wales.

PPDS is described as: 

Foods that may be sold in sandwich shop, café, burger bar, canteen or retailers, this could include, sandwiches, salads, individual pizza slices, hot foods such a rotisserie chicken or potato wedges that are prepacked on the premises in anticipation of an order, before being offered for sale.
