Through all of its communication channels, Allergy UK is continuing to closely monitor the situation regarding the shortage of Epipens in the UK, including the advice and information being provided by pharmacists.

 Our current advice is that if a prescription cannot be filled after reasonable attempts before an existing auto injector expires, people should contact the prescribing doctor or Health Professional for further guidance. The prescriber may initiate a new prescription for an alternate type of adrenaline auto injector. In this case there is a need to be shown how to use your new device as they vary in how they should be administered, and allergy action plans should be amended accordingly.
