Milk Allergy - Flora Buttery Recipe Change
Product name: Flora Buttery
Type of alert: Recipe Change
Following a recipe change, Flora Buttery spread now contains buttermilk making the product unsuitable for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. This is clearly reflected in the ingredient list on the product and on the front of the pack, but we would like to highlight this recipe change for milk allergic consumers.
Flora has added buttermilk into the new Flora Buttery variant of Flora spreads and these new packs now appear in stores. The allergen buttermilk is listed in capital letters on the ingredient list as per the legal requirement, and the new Flora Buttery product has a note on the front of the packaging to say ‘Blended with buttermilk’.
The addition of buttermilk only applies to Flora Buttery retail packs. Flora Original and Flora Light have also had recipe changes, but these products remain vegan and now have dairy-free certification too. Flora Plant B+tter product, which is an alternative to dairy butter in block format, also carries The Vegan Society trademark and is certified dairy-free.
Please note: 2kg Flora products purchased through catering channels are not affected by this recipe change. Therefore, providing that catering businesses, schools, hospitals and care homes buy Flora spread products in catering pack sizes through the catering channels, and not through retail channels, these products remain unchanged.
We advise that you always check ingredient labels.
