International Nurses Day 12 May 2020
Carla Jones, CEO of Allergy UK shines a light on our dedicated nurses now and always
“The WHO has declared 2020 ‘Year of the Nurse’ and today is International Nurses Day and the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the profession’s founder. This year, more than ever, the team at Allergy UK wants to thank our nurses for the work they are doing in these unprecedented times to care for people who are sick with a virus that has changed all our lives in some way. Their dedication, empathy and unstinting care for their patients is inspirational. We are thinking about, and express our deepest sympathy to the families, friends and colleagues of those nurses who have lost their lives to this virus.
On this special day, when the nursing profession is being celebrated all over the world we also want to acknowledge the nurses who have, over the years, helped members of our allergic community in the treatment and management of what can be a life changing or even life-threatening condition. As a charity we know that their work has helped to improve the lives of many people with allergic disease and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”
