Cotswold Way Fundraising Challenge
On 29th and 30th June 2019, five friends embarked on an epic challenge to walk 100km (60 miles) along the Cotswold Way from Bath to Cheltenham – non-stop!
Joanne, Amanda, Emma, Katherine and Katy trained for 11 weeks in preparation for their challenge and successfully completed the walk in 34 hours, donating a generous £800 to Allergy UK.
Cases of allergic reactions are increasingly being covered by the media, especially severe reactions which cause an anaphylactic shock. More people than ever before are asking questions about allergies. The donation from Joanne and her friends has provided 40 hours of vital clinical advice to people calling our Helpline. It will support approximately 120 people, who will be signposted to clinicians, dieticians and valuable sources of information.
To put it another way, for every kilometre they walked, at least one person will find help by ringing our Helpline.
In their words:
“We met so many lovely and inspiring people along the way - fellow walkers, staff and volunteers; we enjoyed flying visits from our families at various rest stops; we read out the many supportive messages we received from friends; and we reminded ourselves why we'd set out to do this walk in the first place: it all helped to get us to that finish line.”
Here’s a huge congratulations to Joanne, Amanda, Emma, Katherine and Katy on conquering the Cotswold Way Challenge and a heartfelt thank you for supporting people living with allergy.
