National Allergy Week - 15th May 2006

Good news for food allergy sufferers and their families

Allergy UK are delighted to welcome to the market place Safetoeat a new company manufacturing food specifically to allow food allergy and intolerance sufferers to safely enjoy high quality and tasty foods.

Food allergy affects 2% of the population and it is estimated that up to 45% of the population also suffer from food related intolerances.

People with food allergies and intolerances are often forced to eat different meals from the rest of the family to ensure their safety and comfort. Sufferers have in the past complained that the foods available to them are limited and not always as tasty as those available to non sufferers. Another common complaint has been the difficulty in being able to clearly and easily read on the label exactly what the ingredients are.

As part of National Allergy Week Allergy UK has considered the Safetoeat range and we are very pleased to see that all of the above concerns have been addressed by the Safetoeat company. We believe that the clear marking on the packaging of the soups and sauces will enable sufferers to easily select a suitable food for themselves and their family.

We believe that this is the beginning of a break through in good tasting, good labelling and good packaging thereby making life easier for the food allergy sufferer.

Allergy UK looks forward to working with Safetoeat on behalf of food allergy sufferers.
