Fundraiser of the Year
Fundraiser of the year for 2014 is Team D-Force.
Ross Dethick, 13, and his family have raised more than £5,000 for Allergy UK over the past two years. Ross’ first fundraising initiative was the ‘5x50 Challenge’ in October 2012 which raised £1,300 for the charity. Since then he has recruited friends and family to help the cause, organising many fundraising initiatives including another two ‘5x50 Challenges’.
This year’s challenge saw a seven-strong team complete 5km of exercise for 50 days raising more than £570. Ross’ proud parents have been inspired to get involved with his Dad, Ian, cycling the ‘Ride the North’ challenge gaining £780 in sponsorship and Mum, Liza, teaming up with colleagues at WHSmith to collect £300 of donations. Liza was also presented with a £1,000 cheque from the WHSmith Trust for her work. Ross suffers with multpile allergies but doesn't let them get in the way of his aspirations. Ross' mum, Liza, proudly explains: “Without Ross’ enthusiasm and cheery, happy nature, none of us would have done this fundraising. He is just such a caring, happy boy. Ross has been the inspiration behind every fundraising initiative we have done for Allergy UK.”
Fundraising Manager, Julia said "I am so pleased to announce this year's Fundraiser of the Year award. We are astounded by the efforts displayed by Ross and his family. The amount of money they have raised so far is fantastic and we really enjoy staying in touch with such a great group of supporters. We look forward to seeing what they have planned for 2015!"
