Free From Food Awards 2014

One of the biggest events in the free from calendar, the Food Matters Free From Food Awards 2014 took place on Tuesday 25th March 2013, at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
Allergy UK’s Deputy CEO, Lindsey McManus, a judge for the event, attended the evening to meet product innovators and the winners including Allergy UK’s corporate partners’ Ilumi who picked up two awards.
Ilumi’s free from ready-meal range won the Meat-based meals award for their Lamb Rogan Josh and the Foods manufactured in a nut-free environment gong for their Kerala Chicken Curry. Just Love Food Co picked up the runner up prize in the same category for their Angry Birds celebration cake. Meanwhile, our new corporate partner Moo Free was commended for their ‘Mini moo minty moo’ chocolate bar in the Foods designed for children category.
The awards were presented by TV Chef, Anthony Worrell-Thompson who has been patron since the event was launched seven years ago. He’s passionate about providing safe free from foods that taste as good as the non-free from ranges. Lindsey said: “It was a great evening and it was wonderful to see so many innovative foods getting the recognition they deserve.”
Lindsey said she was also delighted to see how far the industry has developed in just a few years, providing more choice for those with allergies and intolerances. She added: “The awards now cover a wide range of categories from pasta and pizza, to ready meals, store cupboard ingredients and the new ‘Food to go’ and food for vending machines category. What a change in just a few years!”
