Allergy UK is working to make a difference

  • We are continually seeking ways to improve the quality of life for people with allergy, intolerance and chemical sensitivity by offering as much information as possible. Our helpline can provide practical advice on managing your allergy and contact details of local clinics.
  • We provide medically accurate leaflets and fact sheets on all the most common allergies and intolerances as well as help and tips on on managing your allergy.
  • We work closely with GPs and Primary Health Care Services by providing up to date information and training in all aspects of allergy. Our Health Advisory Panel are a group of leading health care professionals with specialist knowledge in allergy. We are able to call on their services to assist Primary Care staff seeking professional advice and to assist our Helpline with any query on involved or less common allergies.
  • The Seal of Approval, The Consumer Award and the Chemically Friendly Award schemes have been introduced to help consumers find suitable products for use as part of their allergy management programme.
  • We have a nationwide network of support contacts, a dedicated group of people who are themselves people with allergy or their carers. These people are happy to offer advice and support to fellow sufferers.
  • Allergy UK is a source of information for all people with allergy, their carers and the medical profession. There has been a lack of education for health care professionals and we have developed education programmes in the form of Allergy Masterclasses and our new On-line Diploma.
  • We offer a translation card service to help protect you and your family on trips abroad. The cards contain an Allergy Alert message and emergency message to help you when eating out. The cards are available in many popular languages.
  • We campaign for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) sufferers on a number of fronts:
  • - To have the illness accepted for treatment on the NHS.
  • - To have the illness accepted as incapacitating and therefore eligible for benefits.
  • - To encourage manufacturers to reduce the chemical load in their products.
  • We raise the profile of Chemical sensitivity particularly by providing education for the Medical Profession, Government, Industry and Commerce.
