How we make a difference
Allergy UK is the leading national charity providing advice, information and support for those with allergies and food intolerances. We act as the 'voice' of allergy sufferers, representing those affected by this multi organ disease.
We make a difference by:
- Providing information and support through our dedicated helpline
- Empowering people with allergy and food intolerance to manage their symptoms
- Enabling sufferers to receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment through education of healthcare professionals
- Working with our supporters and volunteers to raise awareness
- Educating corporate bodies in the need for products suitable for allergy and food intolerance sufferers
- Conducting ongoing medical and social research into the causes and impact of allergy and food intolerance, and lobbying for better allergy services.
How we started
In 1991, the British Allergy Foundation was formed by leading allergists to improve awareness, management and treatment. In 2002, the charity’s operational name changed to Allergy UK.
The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees. We have a Health Advisory Board, a group of leading allergy healthcare professionals who provide guidance on scientific and medical matters.
